THE JERSEY JOURNAL, TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 1968 23 Frank Miller The Wonderful World OF ANIMALS Q. SIX MONTHS ago we were so elated when our little budgie boy came through surgery successfully. The doctor removed a huge fatty tumor from his chest. It had gotten quite big before we realized he wasn't just sticking out his chest. We marveled at the way he bounced back after such a huge incision and all.

But now it seems as it it was all in vain because it looks as if a new tumor may be starting again. Could our little guy survive another operation? Even if he did, would it be permanently successful? What would you do in our place? We take him 1 in to the doctor again, but would greatly appreciate your opinion also. Thank you. A. Your own veterinarian is the best one to determine th likelihood of success with a second surgery.

The age and general condition of the bird are decisive factors. (If he has a reasonable chance, I'd certainly want to give it to him.) This recurrence makes me wonder if you have followed, carefully, the instructions received after the first round? I'm sure you were cautioned to reduce dietary fats and carbohydrates as much as possible. Such surgery is often futile unless adjustments are -made in the diet so as to minimize the chance for new fat de- posits. Q. OUR COW, Frances, Is it possible to tell whether or not A.
