But here's where it gets interesting: Latin music now accounts for nearly 9% of all recorded music revenue in the U.S., a significant milestone. This growth has been consistent for 12 consecutive years, and it's all thanks to the global appeal of Latin music icons like Bad Bunny, Karol G, Fuerza Regida, and Rauw Alejandro. These artists have not only topped the charts but have also become cultural ambassadors, breaking language barriers and connecting with fans worldwide.
And this is the part most people miss: streaming has played a pivotal role in Latin music's success. An astonishing 98% of Latin music revenue comes from streaming platforms, outpacing the overall music market where streaming accounts for 84% of revenue. This shift towards streaming has led to a decline in physical sales, with vinyl sales contributing just $3.9 million (less than 1% of overall revenue) to the Latin music industry. However, this doesn't diminish the genre's impact; it simply highlights the changing landscape of music consumption.
